En analysant les mots de recherche proposés par l’archive de Francfort concernant des photos montrant des êtres humains ou des vaches, nous essayons de mettre en garde contre une réutilisation irréfléchie d’anciens concepts coloniaux. Based on photographs found in publications by the German colonialist Max Weiss and in the picture archive of the former "German Colonial Society", which is now preserved in Frankfurt, this article deals with the question of how to describe the images without propagating ethnic or racist classifications that formed the ideological basis for the genocide against the Tutsi a hundred years later.
